Privacy notice
Short version: we collect what a group order needs, we share your address and phone with one seller only after you have a winner, and we never sell your details.
Last updated 6 September 2026.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number if you give one, and your zip code.
- Discount group activity: which discount groups you joined, your deposit and its status, the scope you confirmed, messages and reviews you write, and disputes you raise.
- Seller details, if you sell: business name, trade licence, insurance carrier and policy, service area, and the documents you upload.
- Search and interest: what you type into the search bar, the zip code you enter, and waiting-list signups.
- Technical: pages requested, approximate location from your address, and error reports, so we can keep the site working.
Why we use it
- To run the discount group you joined, take and refund your deposit, and put your order in front of verified sellers.
- To verify sellers and keep unlicensed or uninsured businesses out.
- To tell you what is happening with a discount group by email and, if you give a number, by text.
- To understand demand — which categories and areas people ask for — so we can open discount groups where people want them. This is reported in aggregate.
Who sees it
- The winning seller sees what they need to deliver your order: your name, address, phone and the agreed scope. They see nothing before a winner is locked.
- Other buyers in a discount group never see your details.
- Our service providers see only what they need: the payment processor for deposits and payouts, the email and text senders for notifications, and our hosting and database provider.
- We never sell your personal information.
Cookies
- We set a cookie to keep you signed in. Without it the site cannot tell it is you.
- We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent first.
How long we keep it
- Account and order records are kept for seven years after your last order, because they are financial and contractual records.
- Search and waiting-list records are kept for two years.
- Uploaded documents are kept while a seller is active and for two years afterwards.
Your choices
- You can see and correct your details on your profile page, and unsubscribe from texts at any time by replying STOP.
- You can ask for a copy of your data or its deletion by emailing privacy@volumevillage.com. We answer within 30 days. Records we must keep for tax or legal reasons stay, and we tell you which.
- If you are in California, these rights include the right to know, delete, and not be discriminated against for exercising them.
